[NEW TURNITIN DIRECT] Instructors: How to view originality reports for Turnitin Direct assignments

Turnitin Direct allows you to view the originality reports for submitted student work from within the Canvas SpeedGrader to streamline the grading process.

Locate Similarity Reports within SpeedGrader

  1. Click Assignments on the course navigation menu.
  2. Locate the Turnitin Direct assignment and click on the assignment's title.
  3. On the Turnitin Direct assignment's page, click SpeedGrader on the right side of the page under "related items."
Location of SpeedGrader button within Assignment interface.
  4. In SpeedGrader you can navigate through each student's submission. To access their similarity report, click the colored percentage icon in the submission details pane on the right of the screen.
Position of Turnitin Similarity Report Icon within SpeedGrader menu.

If the similarity report has not yet processed, then you will see a grey stopwatch icon next to the submitted file. Please keep in mind that it may take up to 24 hours for a student's submission to be processed by Turnitin. If a student's submission failed to be properly sent over to Turnitin for analysis after 24 hours, you can click the Resubmit to Turnitin button to manually push the submission for re-analysis. Please allow 24 hours for Turnitin to process this re-submission.
Location of "Resubmit to Turnitin" button in SpeedGrader interface.
  5. Turnitin's Feedback Studio will open in a new window displaying this student's submission. Here, you can look at which passages in the student's submission were flagged for similarity to other sources, as well as access other Turnitin tools.
