Flipgrid is a video-based web discussion platform that instructors and students can use within their Canvas sites to conduct discussions. This app works much like Canvas' built-in discussion tool, except users make video recordings of themselves for their discussion posts instead of typing out written discussion posts and responses to others' posts.
If desired, you can create videos with no sound - ASL friendly!
Offer your students a more intimate, engaging peer-to-peer discussion experience than a traditional discussion forum. It's also a great discussion and video sharing forum for FSU organization sites. New feature: Students can give each other video or text comments, making interactions more convenient and organic.
The introductory video below covers the basics of using Flipgrid in Canvas, including how to install Flipgrid in your Canvas site, creating Flipgrid discussion assignments, and grading Flipgrid assignments in SpeedGrader. You can also refer to Flipgrid's Canvas LTI Integration resource for directions to install Flipgrid in your Canvas site.
Keep in mind:
Students do not need to create Flipgrid accounts.
Once a Canvas course is linked to the instructor's Flipgrid account, students and instructors will only need to access the app through Canvas.
