How to share portfolios in Canvas

While Canvas does have a built-in ePortfolio tool, we have chosen to disable it and have instead integrated the superior FSU Career Portfolio. The FSU Career Portfolio is an online tool created by the Career Center that helps students show evidence of learning to instructors and showcase their skills to employers, graduate schools, and other organizations. Faculty across Florida State University have used Career Portfolio as an assignment in their courses to have students examine and demonstrate their learning and career goals, reflect on courses, work experiences, and extracurricular activities, and demonstrate competency acquisition through examples of their work. You can find out more information about utilizing Career Portfolio at the Career Center's Instructor Resources page.

  2. Click on the Assignments link on your course navigation menu.

  7. Select any additional assignment settings you would like to use, such as availability dates and due date. When you are finished, click the Save and Publish button at the bottom of the page.
  8. If you are using Assignment Groups in your course, make sure to click-and-drag your Career Portfolio assignment into the appropriate Assignment Group. This is particularly important if you are weighting grades in Canvas.

Your students will complete this assignment in the FSU Career Portfolio system and will submit the assignment in Canvas using the instructions below. It may be helpful for you to enable the Career Portfolio link on your course navigation menu so that your students can easily navigate to the FSU Career Portfolio system from within your Canvas course site. If your students run into any difficulties while creating their portfolio, they can refer to the Career Portfolio's User GuideCareer Portfolio Tutorials offered in powerpoint format, and the Career Portfolio Troubleshooting page.
